A detailed description of the construction of the Masonic temple in Boston, the planning of the dedication ceremony, and other events surrounding the opening of the new Grand Lodge building.

After the Boston Masonic Temple in the Winthrop house at the corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets burned down in 1864, the cornerstone for the new Masonic temple was laid in October of the same year. The building was dedicated on Saint John’s Day, June 24, 1867.
